Well, to answer this question you must know the “Irregular Verbs”. Why the answer is C? Because “Was” is the past tense of to be and “Came” is the past tense as well. Came is come from the word “come”.

Analysis:
In this type of question, if there is “for” in the sentence and it used as a preposition then the form of this sentence is “perfect tense.”

The instructions in the exam were very complicated and left the students feeling totally confused . I don't think that horror films are frightening - in fact, I find them quite funny.
